Dover Scheduling with limited permissions (Beta)

A streamlined interview scheduling feature with granular calendar permission controls, currently in beta.

Updated over a month ago

Overview

Dover Scheduling with limited calendar permissions is currently in beta testing. This feature offers a similar scheduling experience while offering more granular control -- Dover's would not have permission to edit or delete calendar events.

How it works

When you connect your calendar to Dover, you will need to grant limited permissions:

  • To see the title, description, default time zone, and other properties of Google calendars you have access to

  • See the list of Google calendars you're subscribed to

  • See the availability on Google calendars you have access to

Once your account is authorized in Dover, calendar events scheduled using Dover Scheduling will be booked on a Dover calendar that can view your busy and free availability along with any specific availability preferences you set in your interview preferences in Dover.

Those calendar events booked on the Dover calendar will also be added to the interviewer and candidate calendars.

How to access

To join the trial, please email [email protected] with your request. Please note that you must connect your Google calendar to Dover.

Candidate experience

When a candidate receives an interview invitation for the first time through Dover Scheduling with limited permissions, they will experience the following:

  1. The calendar event will not automatically appear in their calendar

  2. They will receive an email with the subject line: "Invitation from an unknown sender: CandidateName <> InterviewerName (CompanyName) @ Date & Time"

  3. The email will come from [email protected]

  4. The candidate can click Add to calendar in their email to add the event to their calendar

Note: Once a candidate has accepted an invite from Dover once, all future invites will appear as standard calendar invites from Google.

Frequently Asked Questions

I'm already using Dover Scheduling and have connected my calendar. What should I do?

You will need to revoke access to your existing calendar. Visit the Account Settings page and follow the instructions to revoke and reconnect your calendar.

Why don't calendar invites appear automatically for first-time candidates?

This due to how Google handles any calendar invites from unknown contacts. After the first acceptance, Google recognizes Dover as a trusted sender for future invites.

What happens if a candidate or interviewer declines an interview?

When an invite is declined, the calendar will display "everyone else declined the event" and will give you the option to email guests.

Can I recover a deleted calendar invite?

If you delete an event as an interviewer, you can only recover it during the brief "undo" window that appears after deletion. Once this window passes, the event cannot be recovered. For candidates, a deleted event will appear the same as a declined event.

Can I return to the standard Dover Scheduling if needed?

Yes, you can switch back to standard scheduling by contacting [email protected]. They will remove you from the trial and send you instructions on how to use standard Dover Scheduling.

Will candidates know they're part of a beta feature?

No, the experience is designed to be seamless from the candidate perspective once they add the first calendar invite.
